  • Symposium on “The 2010 UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts: Towards a ‘Global’ Contract Law”

  • Aircraft Protocol – Accession by the Republic of Belarus
    On 27 September 2011 the Government of the Republic of Belarus’ instrument of accession to the Protocol to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment on Matters specific to Aircraft Equipment was deposited with Unidroit. The Republic of Belarus made no declarations under the Aircraft Protocol. The Aircraft Protocol will enter into force for the Republic of Belarus on 1 January 2012.   • Cape Town Convention Subsequent Declarations – Togo
    On 26 September 2011, the Government of the Togolese Republic notified Unidroit of subsequent declarations under Articles 39(1)(a), 39(1)(b), 40, 53 and 54(2) of the Convention. These subsequent declarations will take effect on 1 April 2012. Further details about the Convention are available at the "Depositary Functions of Unidroit" page.

  • Colloquium on “Promoting Investment in Agricultural Production: Private Law Aspects” – 8-10 November 2011
    The Colloquium represents the first step in a new line of work approved by the Unidroit General Assembly and devoted to private law aspects of social and economic development, in particular in the area of agricultural production. The Colloquium will bring together representatives of a broad range of stakeholders and will focus on the following main topics: Investment in agricultural Land; Commercial agriculture for small farmers; Capital mobilization and equipment finance for agricultural production. The Colloquium will be followed by a special meeting on the “Possible benefits of extending the Cape Town system to agricultural, mining and construction equipment” to be held on the afternoon of 10 November 2011. >>> further information

  • Diplomatic Conference for the adoption of a Protocol to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment on Matters specific to Space Assets
    Pursuant to the decision taken by the Unidroit Governing Council at its 90th session, held in Rome from 9 to 11 May 2011, to authorise the transmission of the text of the preliminary draft Protocol to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment on Matters specific to Space Assets established by the Unidroit Committee of governmental experts for the preparation of a draft Protocol to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment on Matters specific to Space Assets at the conclusion of its fifth session, held in Rome from 21 to 25 February 2011, as a draft Protocol, to a diplomatic Conference, for adoption, the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany has graciously decided to host the diplomatic Conference, which will be held in Berlin from 27 February to 9 March 2012. >>> further information

  • Cape Town Convention – Accession by the Republic of Fiji
    On 5 September 2011 the Government of the Republic of Fiji’s instrument of accession to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment was deposited with UNIDROIT. The Republic of Fiji made no declarations under the Convention.. The Convention will enter into force for the Republic of Fiji, subject to Article 49(2) of the Convention, on 1 January 2012.   • Cape Town Convention – Accession by the Republic of Costa Rica
    On 26 August 2011 the Government of the Republic of Costa Rica’s instrument of accession to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment was deposited with Unidroit. The Republic of Costa Rica made a declaration under Article 53 of the Convention. The Convention will enter into force for the Republic of Costa Rica, subject to Article 49(2) of the Convention, on 1 December 2011.   • Cape Town Convention and Aircraft Protocol –Ratification by the Republic of Turkey
    On 23 August 2011 the Government of the Republic of Turkey’s instrument of ratification to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment and the Protocol to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment on Matters specific to Aircraft Equipment was deposited with Unidroit. The Republic of Turkey made declarations under Articles 39(1)(a), 39(1)(b), 40, 50 and 54(2) of the Convention, and Articles XXX(1), XXX(2), and XXX(3) of the Aircraft Protocol. The Convention and the Aircraft Protocol will enter into force for the Republic of Turkey on 1 December 2011.   • New edition of UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts adopted
    The Governing Council of Unidroit at its 90th session formally adopted the third edition of the Principles of International Commercial Contracts ("UNIDROIT Principles 2010"). The UNIDROIT Principles 2010 contain new provisions on restitution in case of failed contracts, illegality, plurality of obligors and obligees, and conditions. >>> read more
